About The Position

Paladin Security is seeking a Casual Healthcare Security Officer for the Dr. Y.K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre in New-Wes-Valley, NL. This facility serves the Kittiwake Coast Region, offering emergency and community health services. The role involves ensuring the safety and security of the hospital grounds, monitoring surveillance, controlling access, responding to emergencies, providing customer service, resolving conflicts, writing reports, collaborating with staff and law enforcement, and enforcing hospital policies.

Requirements

  • Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: All healthcare workers must undergo assessment for tuberculosis.
  • Vaccination Documentation: Proof of completion of the full series of childhood/primary vaccinations is required.
  • Tdap Vaccine: One dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine is required upon reaching 18 years of age.
  • Booster Requirement: A booster dose of tetanus toxoid-reduced diphtheria toxoid (Tdap) is required every 10 years
  • Valid Class 5 Driver License & must be willing to take shifts at sites within a reasonable driving distance.
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • High School Diploma
  • First Aid and CPR - Level C Certification
  • Code of Conduct/Vulnerable Sector Check

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Applicants lacking UOF/MOAB certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
