About The Position

Amherst College Dining Services is seeking a Casual Cook - PM to join their team. This part-time, casual position supports the production of menu items, ensuring quality and consistency with Dining Services standards. The role involves direct customer interaction and display cooking, requiring a professional and approachable demeanor. The work schedule is flexible and corresponds to operational needs, generally from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with potential for assisting in various kitchen areas and campus-wide events. This position is designated as essential services and requires reporting to work even during college closures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 to 3 years of related experience
• Equivalent work experience in lieu of minimum education and related experience
• Servsafe Food Handler Certification required or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Time management and ability to multitask
• Ability to taste and work with all ingredients
• Ability to read and execute recipes and mathematically reduce or expand them
• Attention to detail and pride in performance
• Schedule flexibility and ability to work large events when needed
• An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check
• Successful completion of pre-employment physical and lift test
• Successful completion of required reference and background checks

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Collegiate or institutional food service production
