About The Position
The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is seeking qualified candidates for casual Bus Driver positions for the 2026-2027 school year across its boundary. The SRCE is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established on April 1, 2018, to support student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. With approximately 1,166 employees, the SRCE operates 20 schools and 14 pre-primary program locations, serving around 5,948 students and 375 pre-primary children. The jurisdiction covers Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond counties in northeastern Nova Scotia. This position falls under the CUPE Local 955 job classification.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 19 years of age
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License
- Satisfactory Driver's Abstract
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid or willingness to obtain
- Ability to manage the behavior of students while on the bus
- Good communication skills
- Ability to comply with provincial regulations and SRCE policies
- Provide at least three (3) work-related references, including your most recent supervisor
- Provide a current (within the last 3 months) and clear Criminal Record Check-Vulnerable Sector and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment

Responsibilities
- Drive a school bus to transport students safely and efficiently.
- Manage the behavior of students while on the bus.
