About The Position

The Novelis Greensboro Operations team is seeking a Casting Operator. This position ensures safe and environmentally sound casting operations while supporting quality, productivity and customer delivery targets. The Casting Operator reviews ingot orders, transfers molten metal, verifies product conformance, maintains casting equipment, manages inventory and shipping documentation, and contributes to continuous improvement and team success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior forklift experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing temperatures below 50°F in winter and above 100°F in summer.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, overtime and holidays as scheduled or required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business applications, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, environmental compliance, product quality and teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior molten metal and manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with casting operations, quality sampling, product traceability, equipment care, inventory or shipping activities.
  • Experience using lean manufacturing tools, A3 thinking, continuous improvement or root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Review ingot orders and plan production activities to meet customer requirements.
  • Transfer molten metal from holders to the casting pit while balancing quality and productivity targets.
  • Sample, alloy and skim molten metal to meet analysis, product specification and customer requirements.
  • Document and track ingot non-conformances in the Non-Conforming Material Record database.
  • Maintain product traceability through accurate production documentation, ingot marking and shipping records.
  • Perform routine trough and bottom-block maintenance and maintain molds, ABF, ACD and build beds in operational condition.
  • Identify and report irregularities in equipment or materials and support troubleshooting using lean methods and root cause analysis.
  • Manage applicable incoming material and finished product inventory.
  • Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare and execute ingot shipments and maintain accurate inventory and shipping documentation.
  • Maintain safe, clean and PSEA-ready work areas in accordance with Novelis standards, environmental requirements and operating procedures.
  • Complete accurate, legible and timely production, quality, inventory and shipping records through computer-based systems.
  • Collaborate with team members, Maintenance and Process resources to achieve EHSQ, operational and production objectives.
  • Use A3 thinking and continuous improvement tools to solve problems and improve performance.
  • Perform other assigned duties to support operational requirements.
