About The Position
The cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer and donor care while maintaining a safe and clean sales floor. This role requires a friendly and helpful attitude, the ability to operate a cash register, stock merchandise, and maintain store cleanliness and organization. The cashier will also assist donors, sort donations, maintain donation records, and ensure the security and safety of store property. Professionalism, punctuality, and dependable attendance are essential. The position requires open availability, including nights and weekends, and adherence to safety and company policies.
Requirements
- Ability to respond to telephones, written correspondence, and other auditory and visual stimulation.
- Ability to remain calm under stress and have the emotional and physical stamina to deal with a variety of stressful situations.
- Frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, and walk.
- Frequently lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
- Occasionally climb stairs or inclined surfaces.
- Occasionally work outside during night hours and/or inclement weather.
- Must be punctual and have dependable attendance.
- Must have open availability including nights and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Promote friendly and helpful customer service and donor care.
- Operate the cash register and answer the telephone.
- Stock shelves and racks with processed merchandise.
- Keep the store neat and clean.
- Colorize and organize stock on shelves as trained.
- Rotate stock according to the color rotation system.
- Assist donors as they arrive.
- Unload and sort materials in the donation area.
- Maintain accurate records of donations and issue completed donation receipts to all donors.
- Assist with loading and unloading merchandise and equipment as needed.
- Assist with the security and the safety of store property.
- Demonstrate professionalism and present a friendly, cooperative attitude towards customers and co-workers.
- Ability to multi-task, make quick decisions and work in a team oriented, fast paced environment.
- Must be punctual and have dependable attendance.
- Must have open availability including nights and weekends.
- Must conduct work in a safe manner; maintain good housekeeping standards, have all aisles and pathways to fire extinguishers, and exits clear from clutter.
- Always follow all policies and procedures.
- All other duties as instructed by the Manager.
