About The Position

The Cashier engages with customers and provides efficient checkout services, including bagging and transporting groceries, locating products, and conducting price verifications. The role requires proficiency with transactions and accurate tender handling, along with performing customer-service duties and maintaining a safe, sanitary shopping environment. Work is generally performed in a retail store, with occasional exposure to cleaning agents and varying noise levels.

Requirements

Minimum age of 16.
Basic knowledge of cash registers and tender policies and procedures.
Basic mathematical and counting skills.
Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
Ability to remain courteous with customers at all times.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners verbally and in writing.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
TABC/LACT certification where applicable.

Responsibilities

Ensure correct checkout totals by properly weighing, keying, and scanning items.
Maintain an accurate money count in the register.
Access or memorize product codes and stay familiar with advertised and special items.
Follow current tender policies and procedures for checks, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, WIC, AML, and other tender types.
Greet customers, answer questions, locate and promote products, and respond to complaints in a friendly, customer-service-oriented manner.
Promote enrollment in the Thank You Card program and assist customers with signup where applicable.
Bag groceries properly by grouping like items, limiting bag weight, preventing food cross-contamination, and ensuring customers receive all purchased items.
Handle objects carefully to avoid damage to products or property.
Keep front-end racks, drink coolers, and cleaning supply stations stocked, clean, and presentable.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by following Company safety procedures.
Comply with Company policies and procedures and applicable laws governing sales of restricted items, including tobacco, alcohol, cannabis-based, and pharmaceutical products.
Attend work as required.
