About The Position

The Cashier serves customers promptly, courteously, and in a friendly manner to enhance AC&T’s image and make each shopping experience profitable and pleasurable. The role works in the convenience store and is accountable to the Supervisor or Manager on a shift-to-shift basis. It follows company policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations, while maintaining customer service, inventory, store cleanliness, and assigned company property. The Cashier does not have authority to set or change prices, alter merchandise offerings, make cash expenditures, sign contracts, or otherwise obligate the company.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age or have a work permit.
Be able to speak, read, understand, and write English.
Be able to perform mathematical calculations to make change, complete shift reports, and account for product quantities during vendor check-in.
Have sufficient visual sharpness to check customer identification when necessary.
Be able to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers and other equipment.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry cases of products at least once per shift.
Be able to lift and move a 20-pound fire extinguisher and pull up a 20-pound metal plate from an underground storage tank.
Be able to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
Be able to climb a ladder to clean windows and perform cleaning and stocking duties.
Be willing to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

Maintain proper customer relations and provide service promptly, courteously, and in a friendly manner.
Maintain contact with the Store Manager and follow manager-established guidelines that do not conflict with company policies.
Observe authorized store hours and adhere to store procedures and policies, including security, reporting, and check-cashing procedures.
Maintain inventory control and vendor control during the shift.
Safeguard monies, equipment, store records, and other assigned AC&T property.
Keep the store clean and well merchandised to the standards set by the Store Manager.
Follow state and federal laws concerning alcohol and tobacco sales, lottery ticket sales and redemption, and food service regulations.
Immediately report emergencies and accidents to the Store Manager.
Communicate by telephone and/or store intercom.
Stock shelves and coolers; serve food from a food case maintained at a minimum of 140 degrees F.
Clean windows, floors, shelves, bathrooms, the parking lot, and surrounding grounds; carry trash containers to an outside bin.
Work in a cooler at 38 degrees for up to 15 minutes at a time.
