About The Position

The Cashier is responsible for accurately and efficiently checking out customers’ orders while providing attentive, friendly customer service. The role supports Tops’ mission of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves customers time and money. This is a part-time position, with availability required until 10:00 p.m. The position is at Store #373 and pays $16.00–$16.50.

Requirements

• Must be at least 14 years of age; must be at least 18 years old to perform certain functions or tasks.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow all federal, state, and local regulations and company policies regarding cashier operations, safety, and sanitation.
• Check out customers efficiently and accurately using the correct scanning method.
• Bag customer orders.
• Maintain security and minimize losses by being aware of pricing errors, coupons, checks, EBT, WIC, bottom-of-cart items, and other transactions.
• Provide courteous customer service, including saying please and thank you, smiling, maintaining eye contact, and directing customers to an appropriate manager when necessary.
• Stock supplies in the immediate area, return shop-backs, retrieve carts, and perform miscellaneous cleaning, facing, and straightening of shelf sections.
• Handle money, checks, and other forms of payment, and distinguish between different forms of currency.
