About The Position

The Cashier creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Cashiers greet, engage, and assist customers; process transactions accurately and efficiently; and follow company policies, safety rules, food-safety regulations, and applicable laws. They also answer customer questions, report issues, and provide support to customers including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. The essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

Customer service experience.
Effective communication skills.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

Responsibilities

Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane.
Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
Follow company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss.
Follow guidelines for restricted-sale items, including alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs.
Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
Follow food-safety regulations and guidelines.
Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Answer questions about products in the department and throughout the store, helping customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
Follow applicable local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally, and cooperatively.
Act honestly and with integrity regarding customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
