About The Position

The Cashier is responsible for efficiently processing customer sales transactions at the front registers. The role maintains proper control of cash, ensures customer satisfaction, safeguards company assets, assists customers as needed, and maintains a friendly, energetic demeanor. The position follows all procedural guidelines set by the Front End Department. Cashiers walk the store before each shift to learn about promotional and sale items and complete a produce walk and weekly testing. They process payments and transactions, issue receipts and other customer adjustments, operate the point-of-sale register, greet customers, and keep checkout areas clean and orderly. The role requires the ability to work varied hours and days as business needs dictate, including nights and weekends. The listed starting pay range is $15.00–$16.50. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency degree.
Maintain the highest level of customer service.
Adapt to high-volume retail and work in a cross-functional team environment.

Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills for working cross-functionally with peers and senior management.
Knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

Preferred 1–2 years of grocery retail experience in Front End department processes and procedures.
Previous experience in the natural foods industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

Walk the store before each shift to become aware of promotional and sale items; complete a produce walk and weekly testing.
Compute bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing amounts due.
Receive payments by cash, check, credit card, gift card, or automatic debit.
Issue receipts, refunds, credits, rain checks, or change due to customers.
Operate the cash register, scanning price-coded items or manually entering PLU or UPC information and displaying purchase costs, tax, and rebates.
Greet customers entering the store and respond promptly to customer needs.
Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and ensure personal items are not in the area.
Issue coupons and rain checks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
