About The Position

This is a part-time position in the Food and Nutrition Department at Advocate South Suburban Hospital. The role involves ensuring the quality and accuracy of department operations by monitoring daily cafeteria activities, including handling cash and charge transactions, maintaining drawer change, reconciling cash counts, and preparing customer surveys. The position also requires coordinating daily cafeteria procedures such as securing doors and equipment, displaying pricing, maintaining dining room cleanliness, replenishing condiments, brewing coffee, and providing excellent customer service. Participation in self-development through mandatory inservices and education programs is also expected.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Reading, writing, mathematical computation such as those normally acquired with high school or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak English sufficiently to perform job responsibilities
  • Ability to work a cash register

Nice To Haves

  • One year previous food service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collects cash and charge tender and accurately inputs transactions into the register.
  • Maintains adequate change in the drawer through exchanges with the main cashier.
  • Completes cash count reconciliation after each meal period and drops the deposit into the drop safe.
  • Prepares cafeteria surveys for meal service in conjunction with food service workers.
  • Assists customers as needed to provide exceptional service.
  • Secures and opens doors and equipment at off/on meal times.
  • Displays daily pricing on menu boards.
  • Wipes tables in the dining room and replenishes salt, pepper, and sugar before breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Maintains cafeteria condiments as used by customers.
  • Brews coffee for daily services in the cafeteria.
  • Maintains excellent customer service.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Attends inservice programs on equipment use and operation.
  • Attends all mandatory inservice programs.
