Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out directions given in written or oral form.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and compute ratios and percent's.
  • Must have a valid California Food Handlers Certification or will obtain within seven days of hire.
  • Ability to lift and move objects, up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach frequently.
  • Manual dexterity to handle cash and operate a cash register.
  • Ability to work in a busy, sometimes noisy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating the cash register and providing excellent customer service in the café.
  • Duties include handling cash transactions, assisting with food service, maintaining cleanliness, stocking supplies, and supporting deliveries.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling standards, including FIFO procedures and infection control.
  • Complete safety logs, follow company and regulatory guidelines (CDPH, Joint Commission, CMS), and participate in training.
  • Proper disposal of waste, handling hazardous materials per policy, and other duties as assigned.
