About The Position

Responsible for accurate entry of all cash or credit card transactions into the cash register or point of sale terminal. Providing customer with appropriate receipt for each transaction. Serving as general information center for entire store. Meet and Greet customers as they enter and exit the store. Participate and complete Safety Training.

Requirements

  • Less than High School Education.
  • None Experience.
  • Basic keyboard skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inserting and verifying the specified amount of change into the register at the beginning of ones work schedule.
  • Provide customer with appropriate receipt for each transaction.
  • Serve, as general information center for entire store, be attentive to customers who need assistance.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls as workload permits.
  • Handle charge sales, merchandise returns, refunds and exchanges, and payments.
  • Maintain adequate stock of paper, tape, forms and other supplies for operation of checkout station and terminal or register.
  • Keep register price books and catalogs up to date.
  • Notify customers when their orders are in.
  • Follow company check cashing procedures.
  • Remove cash, checks, records, etc., from register drawer at end of ones workday.
  • Keep area neat and clean.
  • Watch for shoplifters and taking action in line with company policy to discourage shoplifting.
  • Watch for customers who may need assistance or information.
  • Attend store meetings and training sessions, etc., as scheduled.
  • Help train new cashiers.
  • Keep abreast of advertising and special sales promotions.
  • Notify management of pricing errors.
  • Compile and maintain non-monetary reports and records.
  • Offer Carryout service at the completion of transactions.
  • Notify customers when their orders are in via telephone.
  • Assume other duties as workload and need dictate.
  • Report any safety problems immediately to your immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all safety guidelines.
