About The Position

Turner’s Outdoorsman is seeking a Cashier to process store transactions accurately and efficiently while providing friendly customer service. The role operates the cash register and point-of-sale system, processes sales and returns, collects payments, provides change and receipts, bags purchases, and introduces or cross-sells products. The Cashier also assists customers with questions and product recommendations, maintains the checkout area and merchandise displays, and supports store sales and service goals. Additional duties include following procedures for coupons, gift cards, firearms, and ammunition; completing required firearms paperwork and maintaining awareness of firearm safety; supporting loss prevention; assisting with truck loading and unloading, merchandise deliveries, and inventory tasks; creating customer orders; and, when needed, filling fishing reels. The role may require attendance at training seminars, including off-site seminars, and other assigned duties.

Requirements

Legally eligible to work in a firearm environment and possess a DOJ Certificate of Eligibility.
Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting effectively with customers and team members.
Familiarity with a cash register or other POS system.
Fluent in English.
At least 18 years of age.
High school graduate or GED certificate.
Basic PC knowledge and ability to learn new software programs.
Able to load and unload trucks and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Able to stand, sit, bend, and lift throughout a scheduled shift.
Able to use both hands when handling a firearm.

Nice To Haves

Retail Cashier work experience; preferred but not required.
Prior retail or sales experience; preferred but not required.
Knowledge of hunting, fishing, or shooting sports.
Prior retail and cash-handling experience.
Previous customer service experience.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers, answer questions, help them locate items, and provide recommendations in a friendly and courteous manner.
Operate the POS system and process payments, returns, and other customer transactions accurately and efficiently; provide a receipt to each customer.
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing cash counter; restock shelves, arrange displays, and meet merchandising standards.
Follow store procedures for coupons, gift cards, and purchases of specific items such as firearms and ammunition.
Collaborate with team members to meet store and individual sales goals, cross-sell products, and contribute to a positive team environment.
Promote current sales, promotions, and programs to enhance the customer experience and drive sales.
Respond to customer inquiries about products, store policies, and services.
Create customer orders.
Complete firearms paperwork in compliance with legal requirements and maintain awareness of firearm safety.
Support loss prevention by monitoring the sales floor, reporting suspicious activity, and following security policies.
Assist management with loading and unloading trucks and stocking merchandise deliveries.
Fill customer fishing reels using specialized machines and knot-tying techniques, as needed.
Assist with inventory management, including receiving shipments, conducting stock counts, and reporting low stock or discrepancies to management.
Attend training seminars, including off-site seminars.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
