About The Position

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Cashier to join our Edgewood Nutrition Services Team. This role involves accurately tabulating customer food selections, receiving cash or authorizing charges, and tendering change. The Cashier will also stock food and supplies, act as a liaison for the Nutrition Department, process orders accurately, and communicate professionally with customers. Efficient handling of cash register duties, adherence to accounting and cash handling practices, and performing opening and closing procedures are essential. Additionally, the role includes performing cleaning tasks to maintain high standards in serving and dining areas, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, safety, sanitation, and security standards, and participating in performance improvement studies.

Requirements

  • Cash register operation
  • Add and subtract accurately and complete cashier’s reports
  • Cashier, waitress/waiter, or retail store sales for six (6) months.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately tabulates the foods selected by café customers
  • Receives cash or authorizes charge and tenders change as necessary
  • Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
  • Stock all food and supplies daily as assigned to meet the needs of the retail operation.
  • Act as a liaison for the Nutrition Department and St. Elizabeth Healthcare when serving customers and associates.
  • Process orders accurately and offer assistance as needed.
  • Communicates in a professional caring manner when serving customers.
  • Efficient handling of cash register duties and follow proper accounting and cash handling practices to provide accuracy with all transactions and follows all opening and closing procedures.
  • Perform cleaning tasks and duties to meet high quality standards that create a welcoming and fresh presentation in the serving and dining areas playing close attention to details.
  • Compliance with all local, state, federal and medical center regulatory, safety, sanitation and security standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement (PI) studies; assist with data collection and supports action plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
