About The Position

Campus Auxiliary Services at SUNY Geneseo is seeking a Cashier to join their team. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Extensive computer use.

Responsibilities

  • Receive payment in the form of cash, credit card, Meal Plan, Campus Cash, FAST, or Flex transactions for goods purchased.
  • Make correct change when required.
  • Assist customers with various questions typically related to the payment, account balance, or item(s) purchased.
  • Balance cash drawer by counting cash at beginning and end of work shift.
  • Operate cash register and bar code scanning equipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate any register needs to R/C management in relation to products, error correction, control and/or pricing concerns.
  • Greet customers entering the restaurants and cafes.
  • Maintain correct cash balance at registers.
  • Maintain safe and clean/sanitary check out area and working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Answer customers' questions, and provide information to guests as necessary.
  • Assist with resolving customer complaints.
  • Be aware of and communicate to customers about all promotions and special events.
  • Interact with student employees in a positive manner.
  • May assist with food production.
  • May wash pots and pans, run dish machine and perform cleaning and sanitation duties.
  • May assist with dining room clean-up, and put chairs up and take chairs down.
  • May assist with replenishment of condiments and paper products.
  • May assist with refuse removal.
  • Other duties may be assigned to reach individual and organizational goals.
