About The Position

The Cashier Team Leader is the frontline execution lead for the store's checkout area, primarily responsible for cashier service standards, scanning and checkout procedures, cash-handling security, checkout-area cleanliness, replenishment of checkout merchandise, equipment and supply management, cashier coaching, and reporting on-site exceptions. Under the direction of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager, the Cashier Team Leader leads or assists team members in completing daily tasks and ensures merchandise is neatly displayed, prices are accurate, replenishment is timely, the area is clean, and service standards are met.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / vocational secondary school or above.
  • Experience in retail, supermarkets, convenience stores, beauty, collectible/toy retail, lifestyle retail, or service industries is preferred; candidates without experience may be trained.
  • Familiar with or willing to learn product merchandising, replenishment and recovery, price labels, expiration management, customer service, cleanliness, receiving organization, and basic work records.
  • Strong execution and sense of responsibility, good customer-service and attention-to-detail mindset, and effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage product stocking, front-facing, categorized displays, shelf organization, and shelf fullness in the checkout area.
  • Ensure merchandise is neatly displayed and price labels and POP/promotional signage are accurate, clear, and current.
  • Promptly correct and report out-of-stocks, misplaced merchandise, incorrect price labels, or disorganized displays to the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager.
  • Complete daily replenishment, recovery, FIFO rotation, and product put-away as required.
  • Monitor fast-selling, out-of-stock, slow-moving, low-stock, and overstock situations; report promptly and assist with adjustments.
  • Keep aisles clear during replenishment; merchandise must not be placed directly on the floor, dragged, or positioned in a way that obstructs customers.
  • Check that price labels are complete, centered, legible, and correctly matched to products.
  • Promptly remove or replace expired promotional, sale, POP, or display materials and restore the area as required.
  • Support display adjustments for new products, promotions, and priority merchandise to improve the customer browsing and purchasing experience.
  • Supervise cashiers to scan each item and verify product information to prevent missed, incorrect, or duplicate scans.
  • Verify that cash transactions, refunds, voids, and exception transactions have required supporting documentation and signatures.
  • Immediately report cash discrepancies, suspected counterfeit currency, unusual refunds, system issues, or payment exceptions to the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager.
  • Maintain checkout equipment, scanners, counterfeit detectors, shopping baskets, checkout merchandise, and counter cleanliness.
  • Ensure fragile items, full-case blind boxes, employee purchases, and other designated merchandise are verified, scanned, and marked according to Company requirements.
  • Coach cashiers on telephone etiquette, customer inquiries, and bagging service standards.
  • Lead by example in proactively greeting customers with a smile and providing friendly service.
  • Understand key products, new items, best sellers, and basic selling points in the area and provide basic product recommendations.
  • Promptly escalate customer complaints, returns/exchanges, negative feedback, or issues that cannot be resolved.
  • Coach new team members in the area on product locations, replenishment standards, service language, and work processes.
  • Assign tasks appropriately and supervise replenishment, recovery, cleanliness, price labels, stockroom organization, and related work.
  • Promptly address and report team member issues involving discipline, service, execution, or teamwork.
  • Participate in opening/closing meetings and communicate key area tasks, promotions, replenishment arrangements, and corrective actions.
  • Complete or assist with work records, expiration records, receiving exception records, and corrective-action feedback on time.
  • Assist the Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager in analyzing recurring issues and driving corrective actions.
