Cashier & Sorting Room Worker (5633)
About The Position
This position is responsible for assisting store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operating and maintaining a cash register; responding to customers’ questions; maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; and ensuring the security of store items and the cash register. The role also involves receiving, sorting, and preparing donated items for display in the store, determining their suitability based on established standards, and assisting in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
Requirements
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- Ability to operate a cash register.
- Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change.
- Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience working in a retail store preferred, or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities
- Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items.

- Receives, inspects, and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brac, etc., according to the category and condition.
- Selects items suitable for store display and distributes them to the appropriate area for further sorting and pricing.
- Discards items according to established procedures.
- Hangs clothes on hangers and places them on clothes racks.
