About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate serves customers and helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and operating smoothly. The role includes operating the register, selling age-restricted products in compliance with legal requirements, providing friendly service, and maintaining merchandise displays. It also involves substantial cleaning and upkeep inside and outside the store, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and the parking lot. Associates may cross-train in other departments, including deli, and help wherever needed. The position requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and being on one’s feet for most of the shift. Weekend and holiday availability is required. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, communicate effectively in English, have basic math skills, and be able to meet the stated lifting requirements. A pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background check may be required. Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required; on-the-job learning is offered. Full-time and part-time schedules are available.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Must be prepared to work on one’s feet for most of the shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
Friendly, positive demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, trustworthiness, flexibility, and willingness to perform varied tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
Sell lottery tickets, cigarettes, and alcohol while following age-verification and legal requirements.
Provide friendly customer service and upsell when possible.
Keep the inside and outside of the store clean and safe.
Deep-clean high-use restrooms.
Wipe down and sanitize gas pumps, including nozzles, screens, and water buckets.
Pick up litter and trash from store floors and the lot area.
Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep merchandise fresh and full.
Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways.
Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
Follow safety procedures and company policies.
Work as part of the team and assist wherever needed.
