About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate greets and assists customers, operates the register, supports sales, and helps keep the store clean, safe, stocked, and organized. The role includes cleaning restrooms and gas pumps, removing litter and trash indoors and outdoors in all weather, and maintaining merchandise displays. Team members may cross-train in other departments, including deli, and are expected to follow safety procedures and company policies. The position requires weekend and holiday availability, prolonged standing, and working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be willing to work on one’s feet for most of the shift and indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication skills.
- Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
- Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, trustworthiness, and adaptability.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly customer service and upsell when appropriate.
- Clean and maintain the inside and outside of the store, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and lot areas.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Work collaboratively and assist wherever needed.
