About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and running smoothly while providing friendly customer service. The role includes operating the register, completing sales of lottery tickets, cigarettes, and alcohol in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements, and offering customers additional products when appropriate. Associates stock shelves, coolers, and displays; clean and organize indoor and outdoor areas; and may cross-train in other departments, including the deli. The position requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and being on one’s feet for most of the shift. Candidates must be at least 18 and available to work weekends and holidays. Prior retail or customer-service experience is appreciated but not required. Employment offers are contingent on successful completion of a background check, and candidates may be required to undergo pre-employment drug screening.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Must be prepared to work on one’s feet for most of the shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen if required and be subject to a criminal history background check.
Friendly, positive demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
Detail-oriented, reliable, punctual, trustworthy, and responsible.
Adaptable and willing to take on a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
Provide friendly service and upsell when appropriate to increase sales.
Keep indoor and outdoor store areas clean and safe, including deep-cleaning restrooms, sanitizing gas pumps, picking up litter, and taking trash to the dumpster in all weather.
Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways and store organization.
Cross-train in other departments, including the deli, as needed.
Follow safety procedures and company policies.
Work as a team member and assist wherever needed.
