About The Position

The Diet Host/Hostess coordinates meal and nourishment activities for each Jackson Hospital patient consistent with the prescribed diet. The role includes customer relations; tabulating, recording, organizing, and disseminating pertinent data and information; preparing and distributing patient trays; and participating in departmental quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• High customer relations skill level and telephone courtesy skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn and generally understand specialized diet prescriptions.
• Basic computer and math/calculator usage skills.
• Knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to various age-specific populations.
• Good hearing and visual acuity.
• Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds.
• Physical stamina to walk and stand for long periods and to sit for long periods at a desk and/or computer.

Nice To Haves

• Prior hospital, nursing home, and/or food service experience is preferred, but not required.
