The Cash Office Associate is responsible for accounting bookwork practices at the store, including reconciliation and recording of drawers, balancing office cash, lottery, and stamps. This role assists in researching and investigating discrepancies, keeping management informed, and preparing bank deposits accurately and in a timely manner. The associate also interacts with customers, answers questions, resolves concerns, and follows company policies for customer checkout. Additionally, they assist customer service with phone calls, use the intercom for announcements, monitor cashier performance, and enforce front-end policies and procedures. Training of front-end associates to ensure productivity, speed, accuracy, and courtesy is also a responsibility. The role involves enforcing company policies, government regulations, and laws, operating scanning equipment and registers, performing checkout procedures, and maintaining accuracy during transactions. Security measures and cash drawer accounting procedures are crucial to avoid shortages or overages. The associate must follow guidelines for tobacco and alcohol sales, maintain knowledge of weekly ads and promotions, and assist with general sanitation in the department, including cleaning work areas and equipment according to health and OSHA requirements. Proper trash disposal and cooperation with coworkers and superiors are expected to ensure smooth department and store function. Continuous improvement of job performance and utilization of provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are also required. The associate may be called upon to assist in other departments.
