About The Position

The Cash Office Associate is responsible for the accounting bookwork practices at the store, including the reconciliation and recording of drawers, balancing the office cash, lottery, and stamps. This role also assists in the research and investigation of any discrepancies and keeps management fully informed. The associate prepares or assists with bank deposits, ensuring they are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Additionally, the Cash Office Associate interacts with customers, answers questions, resolves concerns, and follows company policies related to customer checkout to enhance satisfaction. They also assist customer service with phone calls, use the intercom for announcements, and monitor the performance of cashiers and lot attendants, providing feedback to management. The role involves enforcing front-end policies and procedures, participating in training for front-end associates to ensure productivity, speed, accuracy, and courtesy, and adhering to company policies, government regulations, and laws. The associate operates front-end scanning equipment and registers, performs checkout procedures, bags merchandise efficiently, and maintains accuracy during transactions. They also uphold security measures and cash drawer accounting procedures to prevent shortages or overages, and follow guidelines for the sale of tobacco and alcohol. Maintaining knowledge of weekly ads, promotions, and store layout is crucial for answering customer questions. The position also includes general sanitation duties within the department, following cleaning schedules and guidelines to ensure work areas and equipment are well-maintained and meet health and OSHA requirements. Proper trash disposal is also a responsibility. The associate ensures the smooth function of the department and store by cooperating with colleagues and superiors and is responsible for continuously improving job performance. Utilization of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, and the associate may be asked to assist in other departments.

Requirements

  • Maintaining accuracy during the transaction, ensuring the customer is charged for all items and appropriate funds are collected
  • Maintaining proper security measures and cash drawer accounting procedures
  • Following all store and legal guidelines regarding sale of tobacco and alcohol
  • Maintaining knowledge of weekly ads, marketing promotions and store layout
  • General sanitation in the department
