The Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS) is a charity that reduces crime and makes Calgary communities safer by helping youth and adults make positive changes and move away from criminal behaviour. We do this by addressing the root causes of crime through housing, education, employment programs and support so that individuals have alternatives to breaking the law. CJHS is committed to restorative justice and an organizational environment that recognizes the dignity and worth of each person. CJHS values diversity and inclusion and welcomes qualified applicants from all walks of life. Bedford House is a Community Residential Facility (CRF) for men on a federal conditional release. It has 32 apartments and utilizes an independent living model while providing support, intensive case management and connections to appropriate community services. Practices are rooted in the CJHS Practice Framework Principles of trauma-informed care, cultural respect and inclusion, restoration and transformation, natural supports and social inclusion and respect & dignity. Bedford House works closely with our funder and partner the Correctional Service of Canada, to ensure the residents have the appropriate support and supervision to make positive changes and address the factors contributing to their criminal behaviours.
