About The Position

This is a merit hire position. The starting pay rate for this position is $25.37. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Dauphin County Children & Youth Services is currently accepting applications for a full-time position of Caseworker 3. The Caseworker 3 performs advanced social service casework and case management for children, adolescents, and their families by conducting interviews, assessing needs, case planning, reviewing and evaluating agency responsiveness to clients’ needs, and the case management policies and practices aimed at providing quality social services to children and families. He/she establishes and maintains associated confidential records and collaborates with legal staff and provides testimony in judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings pursuant to clients’ well-being. The Caseworker 3 imparts knowledge and provides mentorship to lower-level casework staff and is accomplished in his/her child welfare-related educational achievement, highly skilled in the use of written and verbal communications, utilizing best practice and cross-systems techniques, and demonstrates flexibility to readily perform work among various units of service. The Caseworker 3 promotes high-performance initiatives by assisting with on-board training for new Caseworkers. Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of the CYS Caseworker Supervisor, Program Specialist or Manager.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a CYS Caseworker 2
  • Or three years of experience in public or private social work, including one year of direct child welfare experience
  • Certification as a child welfare direct service worker by the PA Child Welfare Resource Center
  • A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 semester hours of credit in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.
  • Or any equivalent combination of experience and training, including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college-level courses in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, or other related social science, certification as a child welfare direct service worker by the PA Child Welfare Resource Center, and a bachelor’s degree.
  • A valid driver’s license and positive driving record at the time of hire.
  • A favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required at the time of hire.
  • Proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire (or an alternative form of identification if not eligible for a PA driver's license and driving is not an essential function).
