About The Position

This position is responsible for administering emergency financial assistance through a variety of resources under the direction of the Director of Social Services. The Case Worker serves as an advocate for clients to acquire services that will prevent further crisis and provide prevention services. The main location for this position will be at our North Port office. The schedule is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM.

Requirements

  • Two years of college coursework from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Requires a level 2 background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors caseload of clients participating in an Emergency Financial Assistance program.
  • Conducts pre-screen phone interviews to determine initial eligibility for program enrollment based on established guidelines and requirements.
  • Makes at least 20-35 calls a week depending on the number of available appointments for the following week.
  • Meets with clients to discuss needs and complete required paperwork.
  • Collects and reviews all necessary documents from EFA clients either via email or in-person.
  • Attends community meetings with representatives of other agencies to educate them about the program, make client referrals, and maintain awareness of client progress.
  • Ensures completion of client applications to determine eligibility and establish needs.
  • Inputs family information into various databases and checks existing information, updating if necessary.
