About The Position

The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) is creating a safer Montana through Accountability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment. The new Flathead Valley Reentry Center plays an integral role in shaping the way we deliver structure and accountability while supporting success for residents returning to their community at this first-ever, DOC-owned and operated prerelease center. As a Case Manager, you’ll play a critical role in helping individuals navigate programming, treatment, reentry planning, and facility expectations. This is a fast‑paced, purpose‑driven position where no two days are the same. You’ll balance structured case management with real‑time problem solving, communication, and collaboration with security, clinical services, and leadership. Your work directly contributes to safer operations, improved outcomes, and the success of the people we serve. This position is located in a correctional facility and will have daily contact with adult offenders serving sentences for felony convictions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in criminal justice, psychology, education, or a related field.
  • Two years of job-related experience.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

  • Case planning, prioritizing, and managing caseloads.
  • Release planning, motivational interviewing, conducting risk assessments and facilitating groups related to specific needs of the population.
  • Case managers deliver interventions and incentives to target behavior change.
  • Coordinate with other staff in the facility to assess program progress and completion.
