About The Position

The job of case manager is done for the purpose of providing individualized support, advocacy, and guidance to opportunity youth (ages 16–24) facing economic, academic, social, and employment barriers. The goal is to support students in achieving high school equivalency, developing life and career skills, accessing wraparound services, and transitioning successfully into employment, training, or postsecondary education. The case manager develops, monitors, and maintains case management plans, delivers group and individual support, and fosters community partnerships to ensure barrier reduction and progress toward personal and program goals. This position will serve students/participants in the Open Doors Program and in the YouthBuild Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in related field required.
  • WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance (at employee’s expense)
  • Clear driver abstract for the last five years
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver license, reliable transportation, and required auto insurance
  • Obtain (within first 90 days) and maintain first aid/CPR certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GED preparation is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts intake interviews, assessments, and screenings for the purpose of identifying goals and service needs.
  • Proctors GED and CASAS testing.
  • Develops and implements individualized case management and transition plans for the purpose of assisting youth in achieving goals.
  • Provides referrals to community resources for the purpose of addressing barriers such as housing, mental health, or substance use.
  • Monitors student/member attendance, engagement, and progress toward goals for the purpose of ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Collaborates with instructors, peers, partners, and external agencies for the purpose of meeting program objectives.
  • Leads and supports the delivery of orientation and mental toughness sessions for the purpose of preparing youth for program participation.
  • Organizes workshops, community events, and service-learning opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in written and electronic formats for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Ensures program compliance with policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Represents NEWESD 101 at meetings, trainings, and conferences for the purpose of gathering and conveying information.
  • Transports members/students in NEWESD 101 vehicles as needed for the purpose of supporting program activities and service learning events.
  • Reports immediately to agency supervisor or assistant superintendent any incident that poses a threat to the safety, security, or integrity of youth, staff, or partner and follows up with a written incident report for the purpose of maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Performs related duties as assigned. Related duties may not specifically be listed but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's classification of work.
  • Supports construction and secondary track members.
  • Facilitates group sessions (e.g., life skills, team building, support resources).
  • Tracks Youth Build participation and follow-up outcomes.
  • Collaborates with staff to meet performance metrics (e.g., 75% employment rate).
  • Provides case management in both classroom and /online GED settings.
  • Supports student orientation and engagement across all sites (e.g., Cheney, Pullman, Crosswalk).
  • Coordinates with partners for eligible youth referrals (e.g., YouthBuild, AmeriCorps, Next Generation Zone).
  • Monitors student learning plans and academic progress.
  • Sends weekly attendance outreach emails to non-attending students.
  • Supports transition to employment or postsecondary pathways.
