Requirements

  • 2-4 years related experience.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed by Degree or Diploma
  • Ability to have unrestricted licensure in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois
  • Job requires employee to drive a personal vehicle to conduct company business < 20% per week (8 hours) and/or travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday.

Nice To Haves

  • National certification as an Occupational Health Nurse (COHN/COHN-S).
  • Certification as a Case Manager (CM/CCM).
  • Competence with both Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience in occupational health and/or case management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure prompt access to quality medical care for employees on medical leave.
  • Monitor appropriate medical treatment.
  • Evaluate timely recovery from occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses.
  • Assist employees’ access through the medical system.
  • Communicate with employees, providers, and the Company about return-to-work status.
  • Provide information to providers for placement consideration.
  • Maintain contact with employees on medical leave to evaluate their progress.
  • Contact all employees on medical leave to determine medical status.
  • Address medical questions from individual employees or Branch management.
  • Use early intervention to discourage prolonged medical leaves.
  • Explore temporary work positions with the employee’s respective facility.
  • Coordinate the return to work process.
  • Review company policy on narcotic medications before returning to work.
  • Inform personnel as soon as possible when time off work may extend for over 1 year.
  • Assist setup of Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs).
  • Participate in Independent Medical Exam (IME) discussions.
  • Work with TPA on WC cases encouraging more interaction and progress with each case.
  • Prepare detailed reports for supervisors, leave administrators, and Medical Director.
  • Troubleshoot problems in reports.
  • Keep accurate records for management of lost time and productive workforce.
  • Locate transitional work positions to accommodate job restrictions.
  • Follow up with employee after any return to work with restrictions ensuring successful job placement and compliance.
  • Complete communications and statistics as necessary.
  • Participate in meetings to determine employee medical progress or job placement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, especially nursing ones.
  • Work cooperatively with multiple departments.
  • Foster cooperation and problem solving.
  • Work to understand the position of others.
