About The Position

About Reed House: Reed House provides housing and supportive services to single adults with histories of drug and/or alcohol abuse, serious and persistent mental health issues, and physical disabilities. Our services are available to single adults who have lived in Philadelphia's emergency housing programs, transitional housing programs for homeless persons, those who come from institutions such as substance abuse treatment facilities and inpatient mental health programs. The program serves both men and women. Our residential community is an environment dedicated to supporting individuals in achieving self-sufficiency. Our staff are compassionate and have a heart for helping the vulnerable population live independently. Description of Position : Provides comprehensive clinical and case management services to identify and address residents’ physical, psychological, social, mental, and emotional needs. Aids in client housing eligibility, bio psychosocial assessment, services planning, regular case management meetings, and internal/external programming and activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW). MSW preferred.
  • Experience working with people who are homeless, particularly those with comorbid drug and alcohol and mental health histories.
  • Ability to relate and work with diverse populations.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

  • Training in trauma-informed care and appreciation for the Sanctuary Model preferred.
