About The Position

The primary role of the Case Manager in police department is to work with officers and social service agencies to coordinate solutions for individuals with mental health. Providing immediate support and counseling to individuals and families in crisis situations, often involving mental health, substance abuse, or domestic violence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Bachelor's of Social Work (Preferred)
  • One or more years experience working as a Social Worker or Case Manager.
  • Must possess active status, with licensure or certification in accordance to the professional field required by that governing body LLBSW or LBSW
  • Completion of ICHAT check, National and State Sex Offender Registry Check.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing individuals' needs and connecting them with appropriate social services, such as mental health treatment, substance abuse rehabilitation, housing assistance, or victim support programs.
  • Providing emotional support, advocacy, and resources to crime victims and their families, particularly during traumatic events.
  • Building bridges between law enforcement and the community, fostering trust and understanding, and promoting positive relationships.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough records of interventions and client interactions.
  • Advocating for the needs of individuals and communities, working to improve access to resources and services.
  • Knowledgeable of motivational interviewing, engagement strategies, co-occurring disorders, and stages of change.
  • Ability to assess and deliver services at the appropriate level of care, including applying effective treatment interventions for the presenting issue
  • Office based out of Clinton Township Police Department. Must be familiar with Clinton Township, MI. and community resources
  • Attends assigned meetings as required.
  • Ability to adjust hours of work based on the community needs, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledgeable of national and local substance use and prevention statistics and demonstrates the ability to apply current trends to service delivery.
