About The Position

Under the supervision of the Specialty Court Coordinator, serves as case manager for the drug court program and, as such, interviews clients, monitors compliance with and progress toward program goals. Assist drug court participants with referrals to appropriate community services along with individual treatment plans and prepares necessary reports along with attending and assisting in biweekly court sessions.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college program in social work, sociology, psychology, public administration, business administration, criminal justice or a related field.
One year experience in a responsible position such as social work, counselor, probation officer in a substance abuse treatment program or criminal justice court/agency/department.
Must possess a valid State of Michigan drivers’ license and vehicle for transportation in the court of duties.

One or more years of experience in a substance abuse treatment setting are desirable.

Responsibilities

Conduct intake and follow-up interviews.
Administer pre-screening interviews with clients who are referred to the drug court program and schedules eligible potential participants for treatment assessments.
Gathers comprehensive information through police, prosecutors, and/or other agencies in order to evaluate data and determine participant’s needs.
Case manages participants in the program to ensure program compliance.
Collect urine specimens and performs preliminary breath testing (PBT) of drug court participants.
Make community resource referrals for participants with regard to medical concerns, housing, counseling, transportation, etc.
Prepare biweekly progress notes.
Prepare, copy and distribute the biweekly report.
Recommend sanctions/incentive options to assigned judge and assistant prosecuting attorney.
Appear and testify in court as program representative when subpoenaed or deemed appropriate.
Collect fees and maintains appropriate records.
Collects raw data.
Attend all drug treatment court sessions.
