About The Position

Under general supervision, the Case Manager is responsible for supervising client's compliance with release conditions, providing the courts with information to address noncompliance. This role involves maintaining accurate case notes, informing defendants about rules and conditions of release, enforcing these conditions, and creating individualized supervision plans. The Case Manager also initiates, verifies, and monitors services defendants receive from vendors, collaborates with criminal justice and human services agencies, screens defendants for support service referrals, administers screening tests for substance use, and reviews drug test and monitoring reports. Additionally, the position involves apprising the court about violations, formulating recommendations, testifying in court when needed, documenting information for monthly reports, and responding to inquiries from defendants and the public. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Counseling, or other closely related field from an accredited university or college or Bachelor's degree in any other field of study from an accredited university or college
One (1) year of full-time paid experience in a Criminal Justice setting.
Valid driver's license. (Texas upon hire)
Bilingual in English & Spanish.
Ability to obtain clearance based on a criminal history background check.
Required to present evidence of a TB skin test prior to employment.
Personal transportation for use on the job.
Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check that includes being fingerprinted.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) years of volunteer experience in a Criminal Justice or Social Sciences setting.

Responsibilities

Maintains accurate case notes documenting supervision activities and contacts.
Informs newly released defendants about rules and conditions of release and establishes the defendant's acceptance and understanding of his or her obligations.
Enforces conditions of release from the established obligations.
Creates individualized supervision plans that help defendants comply with release conditions and continually monitors the defendant's ability to comply.
Initiates, verifies, and monitors the services defendants receive from vendors.
Collaborates with personnel in criminal justice and human services agencies, representatives of the legal community, and others to achieve department goals.
Screens defendants to determine if they need support service referrals to facilitate compliance with release conditions or to address specific needs.
Administers screening tests to defendants to detect substance use.
Reviews drug test results, and electronic monitoring and alcohol monitoring reports to ascertain defendant activity and condition compliance.
Apprises court about violations and formulates recommendations for sanctions or alternatives to incarceration as requested.
Testifies in court when needed.
Documents and maintains information the department needs to prepare monthly reports.
Responds to inquiries from defendants and the public about the pretrial process.
Supports call center, monitoring unit and courts as needed.
