In our Youth and Family Services, we help parents and young people who are striving to become healthy and restore their relationships. We work in partnership with human services, child welfare systems, juvenile courts, and community-based providers so that together, we can help individuals and families obtain the services and skills they need to live in positive, healthy ways.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college/university in human services, social work, psychology or other related fields
Two or more years experience in human service activities with children and families; or any equivalent combination of training and experience
Knowledge of child development, childhood disorders and human behavior for the assessment and signs and symptoms of mental health disorders.
Specific knowledge necessary for working with special populations.
Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of substance abuse including pharmacological factors
Knowledge of the DSM-V as it relates to mental health disorders or able to acquire the knowledge
Possess clinical skills to effectively manage clients
Ability to earn clinical licensure in counseling psychology or social work preferred
Knowledge of the Code of Ethics social work professionals.
Knowledge of the federal drug and alcohol confidentiality law (42 C.F.R. Part 2) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed (evening/weekend hours)
Ability to work with a diverse population
Knowledge of the child welfare system
Knowledge of computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the Internet
Must be available to attend meetings and meet the needs of the program and/or clients throughout the city, counties or wherever needed (a reliable car, insurance and valid driver’s license may be required for the job).

Nice To Haves

Ability to earn clinical licensure in counseling psychology or social work preferred

Responsibilities

Provide direct services as well as coordinate other services, resources and people to assist clients in achieving their established service plan goals.
Provide specialized case management and placement stabilization services to children, adolescents and their families with mental health and other needs.
Screen and assess client for their appropriateness for agency services.
Adhere to the service hour protocol established by the agency.
Complete and maintain all required documentation pertaining to clients (documentation, CANS, treatment plans and status reports)
Facilitate individual or group orientation or educational sessions (as required)
Develop effective working relationship with the child welfare system and service providers
Represent the client and agency at Child and Family Team meetings, Clinical Intervention Placement Protocol meetings, staffing’s, provider networks and court hearings
Provide referrals for identified needs of the client and crisis intervention when needed
Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals to review client progress, and to determine their suitability for program participation
Complete and maintain all required documentation which includes, documenting the results of assessments, service plans, reports, progress notes, discharge summaries and other client-related activities including accurate reporting of services
Participate in clinical and multi-disciplinary staffing
