Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or a Social Services field from an accredited college
  • Child welfare and/or case management experience strongly preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish and English
  • Broad knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and methodologies of social work
  • Prior experience working with refugee or minority families with demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Eligible to obtain professional licensure or registration
  • Knowledge of state, community, and agency resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated clinical, therapeutic, and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Must be able to pass required medical examinations and perform essential job functions, including physical restraints of a resident
  • Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage
  • Must pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate short-term case management services for clients’ educational, therapeutic, medical, and legal needs
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the treatment team to discuss clients’ needs and treatment plans
  • Present client social history at internal and external team meetings, including the youth’s journey to the U.S., exploitation and/or trafficking concerns, family history, psychological history, academic history, and identified issues or behaviors that warrant treatment
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on DHS and UC policy and procedures for intake, reporting, and permanency (post-adoption) planning
  • Attend and testify at court hearings, as necessary
  • Provide services that empower clients and adhere to the organization’s standards of ethical practice
  • Meet with clients at least weekly to ensure safety and support goal progression
  • Provide reunification services to potential sponsors in a timely manner
  • Provide Spanish-to-English interpretation for clients, as needed
  • Provide transportation to clients, as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client information in compliance with DHS, ORR, and Bethany’s documentation and reporting requirements
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor to consult on cases and review case plans and treatment direction
  • Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services
  • Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department
  • May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event
  • Complete other duties as assigned
