About The Position

Under direction, provides direct services to program members, persons served, family members and designated others for the Vocational and Day Program Services (VDPS). Implements program activities and participates in research and program evaluation. Promotes assessing of community-based resources for persons served. Facilitates team understanding as well as member assessing of community-based resources.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling, or other mental health related field
Meet qualifications as specified in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Prepaid Inpatient Health Plan (PIHP)/Community Mental Health Services Programs (CMHSP) Qualifications per Medicaid Services as a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP);
Individual with specialized training (including fieldwork and/or internships associated with the academic curriculum where the student works directly with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities as part of that experience) OR one (1) year of experience in treating or working with a person who has intellectual disability (prior to or post degree acquisition); and is a psychologist, physician, educator with a degree in education from an accredited program, social worker, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist, audiologist, behavior analyst, registered nurse, dietician, therapeutic recreation specialist, a licensed/limited-licensed professional counselor, OR
A human services professional with at least a bachelor’s degree in a human services field
Possession of required state licensure appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines
Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
Applicable computer applications
Michigan Mental Health Code and its rules and regulations
Various disciplines and assessment tools utilized by each discipline
Working understanding on practices for adherence to Medical Services Administration (MSA) Medicaid policies and procedures
Techniques to de-escalate/interact in potentially dangerous situations
Using good professional judgment for the welfare and safety of our persons served
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Analyzing information and completing reports

Nice To Haves

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling, or other mental health related field
One (1) year experience working in a behavioral health setting
Effectively speak, write, and understand a language other than English is preferred

Responsibilities

Conducts assessments, service planning, specialized intensive case management, case work, living skills, training, crisis intervention, advocacy, linking and monitoring for assigned clients.
Conducts home visits and performs home and community-based interventions.
Completes Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) record keeping requirements, including clinical records such as Person-Centered Plans and case notes, as well as statistical reports.
Provides in-service training and educational activities to MCCMH staff, support professionals and members of the community.
Works cooperatively with members of other disciplines, agencies and community providers to ensure timely and accurate service provision.
Maintains and updates clinical knowledge by reading, in-service training in designated areas, and other activities determined in consultation with the agency’s annual plan and clinical supervisor, or designee.
Coordinates with family, aftercare programs, and ancillary support services to secure aftercare.
Participates in staff meetings, in-service training and supervision with a therapist.
Coordinates inter and intra-agency plans of service.
Monitors customer services through face-to-face person served contact, facility visits, consultation with family members, significant others, service providers and records review.
Develops effective relationships with service providers, home staff and families.
Operates an automobile while performing assigned job duties.
Performs related duties as assigned.
