Requirements

  • Degree in Nursing – BSN preferred
  • Valid NJ RN
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in Healthcare setting preferred
  • Milliman Guidelines, evidence-based clinical practice, that help determine the preferred course of treatment in medical situations.
  • Successfully completes initial competency verification for specialty area.
  • Demonstrated people/interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates a plan of care to meet identified needs in most appropriate setting at time of initial assessment and documents in medical records.
  • Performs utilization review function within 24 business hours of patient admission to the hospital and documents same on internal worksheet.
  • Interviews patient and/or family with risk criteria for education needs and any special discharge concerns and continues to follow through discharge.
  • Actively participates interdisciplinary rounds and provides information to staff regarding InterQual criteria, payor guidelines and identified variances in the care plan.
  • Identifies issues that require patient education prior to discharge.
