About The Position

Evaluates patients’ clinical status using evidence-based criteria to determine medical necessity for hospitalization, clinical progression, and continued acute care needs. Uses information about the patient’s clinical condition, prior level of functioning, and anticipated treatment plan to support a safe, smooth transition to other levels of care.

Requirements

• Graduate of a nursing program leading to RN licensure.
• Current RN licensure in the State of California.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS card.
• Knowledge of common disease processes and health care delivery systems.
• Understanding of common reimbursement methodologies.
• Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Word.
• Willingness to learn the Business Services, Case Management, Emergency Department, and hospital-wide electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.

Nice To Haves

• Three years of acute hospital experience preferred.
• Experience in utilization review, discharge planning, and/or case management preferred.
• For per diem positions, 1–2 years of previous acute inpatient adult case management experience is required.
