Requirements

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Grabbing insurance authorizations for ancillary services like physical therapy or medical equipment.
• Keeping track of insurance denials.
• Identifying preferred nursing homes or home-health agencies for patients ready for discharge.
• Contacting facilities to check for bed availability.
• Sending patient medical charts to facilitate acceptance into post-discharge facilities.
• Communicating with insurance companies (payers), the hospital's admissions office, and clinical staff regarding the status of a patient’s exit plan.
• Expediting patient discharge to reduce hospital costs.
