About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking individuals committed to service, community, and teamwork to strengthen individuals, families, and communities for a better quality of life. The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) specifically is looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join their team as a Case Aide. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven, offering opportunities to exercise rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and community engagement. Applicants cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.

  • Ability to adapt and be sensitive to a variety of cultures.
  • Ability to maintain and display professional demeanor.
  • Ability to establish family and professional partnerships.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities.
  • Ability to assess/review documents to determine importance to meeting member/family needs.
  • Type a minimum of 40 wpm.
  • Valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1968.
  • Subject to a search of both the Department of Child Safety Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.
  • Successfully pass background and reference check.
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility verification.

Nice To Haves

  • At least ONE (1) year of customer service experience (OR) working with or assisting individuals in a community setting (e.g. community involvement with individuals with developmental disabilities, aging and adult, youth, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Processes Eligibility packets, documents received packets/cases into unit log, checks database for referral/application records, reviews application packets for completeness, forwards completed packets to the assigned Eligibility Specialist, and creates proxies for flow-board.
  • Conducts daily follow-up with providers to obtain additional information needed for processing Eligibility packets and closes case files to assist with determinations within outlined time frames.
  • Serves as the in-day person in a unit/office, answers office telephones and phone calls for absent Eligibility Specialists, takes accurate messages, routes calls, and responds to routine questions from families and providers.
  • Maintains office supplies, copy machines, and postage meter; opens, reviews, sorts, and distributes office mail to appropriate Unit staff, prioritizing critical documents, and copies documents as requested.
  • Collects necessary information for and prepares eligibility and member re-determination packets, tracks eligibility decisions, and inputs member information into the member information database.
