About The Position

Join the Santa Fe Animal Shelter's Animal Resource Center coordinating our CASA Program. CASA stands for Community Assistance for Santa Fe's Animals. We believe that pets belong happy, healthy and at HOME. Work with our resource center to help us help families and pets stay together. This position is part of the SFAS Animal Resources Center and the candidate for this position will also be filling in at the ARC desk as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience with case management of vulnerable human populations.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in in emergent situations and around customers who are exhibiting emotional and/or disruptive outbursts.
  • The ability to calmly and professionally de-escalate a situation.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, public speaking, and written skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in computer applications, databases, Microsoft and Google suites, and email.
  • Strong sense of professional judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with supervisor, leadership, coworkers, volunteers and the general public – promoting a strong collaborative team approach.
  • Must come to work regularly and on time, foster collaborative relations with coworkers and supervisors - treating coworkers, supervisory staff, members and guests with respect, courtesy.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one prior to appointment to position; clean driving record, and ability to be insured by SFAS carrier to drive fleet vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society’s CASA Program. (Community Assistance for Santa Fe’s Animals)
  • Work with ARC Specialists on case management to track and document an individual customer’s animal welfare needs via email, text, phone call, and in-person appointments and refer to the appropriate internal departments and outside resources, as needed.
  • Coordinate CASA services that proactively identify and support underserved and under-resourced individuals and communities, including, but not limited to: victims of abuse, SHAP (Street Homeless Animals Project) for people experiencing homelessness, and the elderly in an effort to help them with pet ownership and to keep animals in homes. Services include, but are not limited to: food bank and supply distribution, free spay/neuter, vaccines, microchips, ID tags, subsidized veterinary care, and other fee-waived services.
  • In collaboration with the ARC Manager, the ARC team, City Animal Services, and County Animal Control ensure implementation of diversion and intervention program and appropriate delivery of CASA services.
  • Maintain and improve the CASA statistics database spreadsheets. Create and manage documentation, statistics, and reports of individual cases and programmatic outcomes.
  • Responsible for the ongoing cultivation, training and recognition of CASA volunteer team.
  • Coordinate and oversee Food Bank distribution events; veterinary voucher; Home to Home Adoptions; and temporary, emergency boarding services.
  • Identify, develop and maintain partnerships with human service organizations to promote the SFAS diversion and intervention program.
  • Coordinate with the Development Director to apply for, manage, and report on grants for the CASA program.
  • Work with and adhere to a prescribed budget.
  • Assist with the creation of relevant manuals, PowerPoint presentations, collateral, and trainings.
  • Attend and host outreach and engagement events in the community.
  • Learn the customer service practices of the Animal Welfare Associate positions at the front desk and be able to fill in as needed.
  • Participate as needed in special department projects.
  • Work as a team member with other departmental managers and staff.
  • Maintain CASA Program supplies, equipment and storage areas clean and organized.
  • Working with the SFAS PR team ensuring to maintain the information on SFAS website, FB and other social media platforms regarding cremation services is current and an accurate reflection of services provided.
