About The Position

Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Juvenile Division is seeking a CASA Coordinator. This is a full-time, non-exempt position responsible for managing a caseload of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers. These volunteers act as investigators, monitors, reporters, and advocates for children involved in the juvenile court system. The role involves maintaining regular contact with volunteers, assisting with case investigations, participating in visits, and attending court hearings. The position is an At-Will Employee serving at the pleasure of the Administrative Judge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social service related field
  • Over three years social service experience
  • Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
  • Knowledge of family issues and dynamics relating to child abuse and neglect
  • Knowledge of Court System processes and volunteer program requirements
  • Knowledge of social welfare and community social service resources
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles
  • Ability to apply supervisory principles to supervision of volunteers
  • Ability to work with all types of people and races from different social, economic backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain good public relations as Court representative
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with associates and job contacts
  • Ability to exhibit good organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative in perceiving and meeting volunteer and program needs
  • Willingness to accept program responsibility and leadership
  • Skill in written and oral communications
  • Skill in operation of computer
  • Skill in general typing
  • Skill in application of job software programs
  • Skill in operation of general office equipment

Responsibilities

  • Manages a caseload of community volunteers who are trained as a CASA.
  • Assures a high quality volunteer program in providing excellent service by maintaining weekly/monthly contact with the CASA Volunteers and assist with the monitoring of reports and interviews as needed.
  • Assists CASA volunteers with case investigations.
  • Participate in home, school and agency visits on a regular basis.
  • Attend court hearings on a regular basis or as needed on behalf of the CASA program.
  • Assist with In-Service topics and CASA Pre-Service trainings.
  • Participate in trainings and workshops to increase job knowledge.
  • Provides assistance to Manager of Volunteer Services with reports, grant reporting and grant applications.
  • Maintains records pertaining to all cases.
  • Tracks, report data about case and volunteer statistics for the Court, VOCA, State and National CASA organizations.
  • Correspond on a consistent basis to all parties of a case.
  • Participate in activities geared toward volunteer appreciation and other court activities.
  • Provides office coverage as assigned by Manager of Volunteer Services.
