About The Position

The Cart Clerk gathers carts from the parking lot and store, using manual methods and a remote-controlled cart pusher. The role provides friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers, helps maintain the grounds and cart room, and handles recyclable materials. Employees may also perform other related duties as assigned or needed. The position operates in a 24/7 environment, with varied hours primarily between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., and requires working outdoors in changing weather conditions.

Requirements

Consistently provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers.
Work varied hours primarily between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Walk, push, pull, and maneuver grocery carts weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Reach in front and bend to pick up items at ground level.
Stand, walk, and move rapidly for long periods of time.
Work outdoors in cold, hot, and inclement weather conditions.
Maintain awareness of surroundings for safety in the parking lot and identify carts that need to be gathered.
Demonstrate customer-relations skills.
Learn safety and department policies and procedures.
Hear audible requests, such as pages and customers asking questions.
Lift up to 40 pounds often from floor level to 6 feet high and maneuver up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Wear a reflective vest while outside.
Be at least 16 years of age.
Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.
Obtain a Food Handlers Certification where required by state law.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers while maintaining a friendly, enthusiastic customer-service atmosphere.
Gather, guide, assemble, and retrieve carts manually and with a remote-controlled cart pusher, including stray carts in the store.
Pick up litter from the grounds, planters, and cart room.
Empty recycling machine containers into the proper bins for glass, aluminum, and plastic.
Maneuver and stack bins for pickup.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
