About The Position

The Cart Clerk gathers carts from the parking lot and provides friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers. The role includes collecting and assembling carts, picking up litter, handling recyclables, and performing other related duties as assigned. Employees work in a 24/7 operation, primarily during varied hours between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may work outdoors in cold, hot, or inclement weather. The position requires lifting up to 40 pounds often and maneuvering up to 100 pounds occasionally. The stated starting pay is USD $15.00 per hour.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Consistently provide friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers.
Work varied hours primarily between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Walk, push, pull, and maneuver grocery carts weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Reach in front and bend to pick up items at ground level.
Stand, walk, and move rapidly for long periods.
Work outdoors in cold, hot, and inclement weather.
Maintain awareness of surroundings for parking-lot safety and see carts that need to be gathered.
Demonstrate customer-relations skills and learn safety and department policies and procedures.
Hear audible requests, such as pages and customer questions.
Lift up to 40 pounds often from floor level to 6 feet high and maneuver up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Wear a reflective vest while outside.
Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.
Obtain Food Handlers Certification where required by state law.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers while maintaining a friendly, enthusiastic customer-service atmosphere.
Gather, guide, assemble, and collect stray carts manually and with a remote-controlled cart pusher.
Pick up litter from the grounds, planters, and cart room.
Gather stray carts inside the store.
Empty recycling machine containers into the appropriate glass, aluminum, and plastic bins.
Maneuver and stack bins for pickup.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
