About The Position

The employee performs various administrative functions resulting in the optimum use of administrative needs in Carrier Relations which contributes to the overall profitability of EPES Logistics Services, Inc. This role involves performing due diligence when qualifying new carriers, maintaining carrier base information, scanning and filing documents, updating carrier information on websites, and generating daily/weekly reports. The specialist will also monitor carrier safety ratings and insurance certificates, assist with company projects, and continuously improve carrier file accuracy. A key aspect of the role is supporting the Quality Management System and promoting quality improvement processes.

Requirements

  • College degree in transportation or related business field preferred.
  • Prefer 1-2 years related experience in transportation/trucking.
  • Good working knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office, Excel, etc).
  • EDI, and/or McLeod software background helpful.
  • Excellent work history with proven track record.
  • Excellent data entry skills—accuracy is very important.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Professional, clean, neat appearance.
  • No convictions of serious crimes.
  • Ability to read and comprehend general instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and speak before groups of employees and outside consultants and respond to questions/comments from the same.

Responsibilities

  • Performing due diligence when qualifying new carriers to ELSI, ensuring carriers pass the minimum established requirements.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining ELS carriers base insurance, authority and safety rating in the system and all websites.
  • Scan and File all Carrier Documents.
  • Responsible for accepting carriers on the website and updating email addresses.
  • Maintain daily/weekly reports directed by Director of Shared Services.
  • Responsible for scanning carrier relations documents into the EBE Scanning System.
  • Assist in any Epes Logistics projects as needed.
  • Continuously improve carrier file for completion and accurate information.
  • Monitor carrier’s safety rating ratings and violation through selected websites.
  • Call insurance agents for Insurance Certificates and exclusions.
  • Check each exclusion and insurance certificate for acceptance.
  • Demonstrates support to the Epes Carriers, Inc. Quality Management System and its objectives, as applicable.
  • Work with the Vice President of Quality to establish and promote a true quality improvement process to include the Quality Management System at the company with the involvement of all personnel.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Shared Services.
  • Monitor carriers in Carrier411 daily to ensure the carrier’s in the Powerbroker system are qualified with proper Authority and Insurance.
