About The Position

Hinds Community College is seeking a qualified Carpentry Technology Instructor to join our team. This position is responsible for teaching and developing curriculum for carpentry technology courses. The instructor will prepare students for successful careers in the carpentry trade, ensuring they gain the necessary skills and knowledge for employment. This role involves classroom instruction, hands-on lab training, and student assessment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Carpentry Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of documented, relevant work experience in the carpentry trade.
  • Proficiency in carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to teach effectively in both classroom and lab settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student success and retention.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Previous teaching or instructional experience, preferably at the community college level.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., NCCER).

Responsibilities

  • Teach Carpentry Technology courses at the Vicksburg campus.
  • Develop and update curriculum to meet industry standards and student needs.
  • Provide hands-on training and supervision in carpentry labs.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
