About The Position

Provide support for the classroom teacher and building as outlined in the Work-Based Learning training plan. The Carpentry student assistant will be placed at Dowell J Howard.

Requirements

Current High School Student
Must have completed and passed Carpentry 1 and Carpentry 2.
Ability to relate and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
Basic reading, writing, and computation skills; good written and oral communication skills; basic computer skills preferred.
Ability to communicate and collaborate well in a team environment.
Must have their OSHA 10 for Construction.
This must fit into their schedule.
Must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher at the homeschool.

Responsibilities

Assist with monitoring student safety in the lab.
Assist the teacher in demonstrating proper tool usage.
Assist the teacher with a ladder and scaffolding demonstration.
Aide students in the location of tools and materials.
Going to the copy room to make copies if needed.
Getting tools and materials from storage areas located outside the lab area while we are working in the lab.
Any other duties that may be assigned when necessary.
