Collaborative Carpentry is growing and seeking Union Carpenters who take pride in their craft, prioritize safety, and want to contribute to high-quality commercial construction projects. Our team builds in active environments where reliability, workmanship, and jobsite awareness matter every day. Carpenters at Collaborative Carpentry are trusted professionals on site. You are responsible for executing carpentry work safely and accurately, working from drawings and specifications, and coordinating with the jobsite team to keep production moving. WHAT YOU WILL OWN Carpenters own the safe and precise execution of assigned carpentry work. You are accountable for delivering quality workmanship that meets drawings, specifications, and schedule expectations while maintaining a safe jobsite and protecting the work of other trades. Safety, Quality, & Jobsite Standards Follow all jobsite safety requirements and company policies. Work safely in active construction environments, including outdoor conditions and buildings without heating or air conditioning. Identify hazards, use appropriate PPE, and contribute to a culture where safety comes first. Maintain workmanship that meets project specifications, inspection requirements, and Collaborative Carpentry quality standards. Carpentry Scope & Execution Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and details to determine layout, dimensions, and material requirements. Frame interior partition walls using metal or wood studs, including accurate layout per project drawings. Hang drywall in accordance with project specifications and sequencing requirements. Construct, install, and repair structural frameworks including walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs. Install doors, windows, cabinets, trim, hardware, insulation, fixtures, and related building components as required by the project. Perform interior and exterior finish carpentry required to complete commercial construction projects. Fabricate and install custom carpentry components such as cabinetry, shelving, and specialty assemblies as directed by project plans. Tools, Coordination, & Craft Responsibility Maintain and properly handle tools, equipment, and materials to ensure safe, reliable performance. Coordinate daily work activities with foremen, superintendents, and other trades to support sequencing and production flow. Communicate layout questions, conflicts, or changing field conditions promptly to avoid rework or delays. Support apprentices and less-experienced Carpenters through example, coaching, and safe work habits, consistent with jobsite leadership direction. HOW THIS ROLE WORKS WITH FIELD LEADERSHIP Carpenters work closely with field leadership and project teams to execute work efficiently and safely. Clear communication, role clarity, and steady follow-through are critical to keeping the job moving and preventing rework. Regular interaction focuses on: Reviewing daily work plans, manpower needs, and safety considerations. Clarifying scope, layout, and sequencing from construction documents. Coordinating with other trades to reduce conflicts, downtime, and rework. Maintaining consistent expectations for quality, productivity, and professionalism. EXPERIENCE EXPECTATIONS This role is open to Apprentice or Journeyman-level Carpenters, depending on experience and training progression. Apprentice Carpenters Actively enrolled in or progressing through a recognized apprenticeship program, or strongly interested in joining and ready to take steps toward enrollment. Demonstrate a commitment to learning the trade, following direction, showing up prepared, and working safely. Comfortable working in commercial construction environments and building skills through hands-on experience and coaching. Journeyman Carpenters Proven commercial construction experience with the ability to work from drawings with minimal supervision. Strong layout capability and consistent delivery of quality workmanship. Reliable, production-minded, and able to coordinate effectively with the jobsite team. All Candidates Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and interpret construction documents and jobsite instructions. Strong working knowledge (or developing knowledge) of commercial construction means and methods. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 is a plus. Willingness to relocate for the duration of a project when needed. This is a safety-sensitive position. PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT (SUMMARY) Regular standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting (40–75 lbs). Frequent exposure to tools, equipment, and active trades; moderate noise typical. Work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and indoors without climate control.
