About The Position

This role involves a progression of carpentry skills over four years. The first year focuses on learning fundamentals and assisting with basic tasks. By the second year, individuals will begin learning layout techniques and operating tools more independently. The third year requires independent framing of structures and applying core carpentry principles. By the fourth year, the carpenter will be proficient in print reading, door hanging, trim installation, and performing most installations with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • Hand tools
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-4 years of experience in carpentry &/or construction labor
  • Experience in using carpentry tools & power equipment
  • Strong mathematical skills for measurements & calculations
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds & work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to read & interpret construction plans & blueprints
  • Excellent teamwork & communication skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA construction safety certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Learn the fundamentals of carpentry and construction
  • Assist with framing wood and metal structures
  • Safely operate basic tools
  • Gain familiarity with framing and trim routines
  • Learn layout techniques and basic print reading
  • Master the 3-4-5 framing method
  • Frame wood or metal structures with guidance
  • Understand framing principles, including spacing (16” on center)
  • Safely use hand and power tools (saws, grinders, nail guns, etc.)
  • Assist with installations and perform basic installation tasks
  • Frame both metal and wood structures independently
  • Assist with installations under supervision, following directions
  • Apply carpentry fundamentals: plumb, level, straight, 45-degree angle, 3-4-5 method
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of carpentry practices
  • Work independently, requiring minimal supervision
  • Develop print reading skills for layout and construction
  • Hang doors and perform basic trim installations
  • Execute layout tasks with increasing independence
  • Safely handle and operate all tools, including power saws and nail guns
  • Frame wood and metal structures with minimal guidance
  • Perform most installations independently, including trim and doors
